FFX for PS3 and PSVita Will be a REMAKE

I’m usually not the type of guy that gets “floored” by announcements, but needless to type, after stumbling upon this tidbit of news I immediately cast myself onto the floor. According to PSTime, Final Fantasy X will be a full blown remake that uses the Final Fantasy XIII engine. Now it’s time for some block quoted and bullet pointed details.

    • Uses the same engine from Final Fantasy XIII and adapted to PSVita.
    • All that is made from scratch with the new engine is the design of the characters, the aeons and stage elements.
    • The sets and scenes in HD remastered CGI will implement a “filter” FFXIII Engine.
    • The magic and some lighting effects are achieved with the new engine “Luminous”.
    • The Blitzball undergoes some small changes.
    • Will include some online options (specific details are unknown).
    • The release date in Japan is fiscal 2012.

(Editors note: I tried to edit and modify those translated details to make the most sense as best as I could with what little energy I had)

I just hope they also edit out this laugh scene.

Tell us what you think about all of these details in our comment box (it won’t bite). Also, Like us on Facebook and stalk us on Twitter.

    And.. thanks for reading. 😀

    Max Payne 3 First Trailer

The very first Max Payne 3 trailer is starting to make a tidal wave on the internet. And for very good reason, it features a drunk Max Payne. Some girl he was trying to protect got kidnapped by an organization. And of course, gunfire, explosions and the magical, mystical, stupendous extrrrrrrrrravaganza that is “Bullet Time”. Also.. forget about drive-bys, it’s all about the train-bys (you’ll see it in the video).

Max Payne 3 is set to release in March 2012 for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC.

    Thanks for watching & reading.

    Recap of Sony’s TGS Conference

The picture about says it all folks; the Vita was Sony’s primary focus during their TGS showing. While some people may not appreciate that, I don’t really care. The fact is that there were some major announcements. I’m now going to recap those announcements. (Editors Note: I was posting updates throughout the conference faster than every other site, that is FACT and documented via Twitter) (Another Editor’s Note: Some of these will be funny)

    • There was a pasty faced white guy speaking Japanese, I thought that was funny.
    • There were two awkward handshake photo-ops in the conference.
    • Sony bragged about their awesomeness by displaying that they have sold 51.8 million PS3s and 71.4 PSPs.
    • I’m probably late on this announcement, but fuck it; I saw red and blue PS3s! I want both!
    • There was no Kevin Butler or a Japanese substitute for Kevin Butler
    • There was, however, a Japanese Michael Buffer
    • Sony teased us with catchy UI music, an app that turns your face into a jigsaw puzzle, and of course they played the trailer for the Amazing (angsty) Spiderman (movie). Also, there was a Friends list, PS3 trophy tracking and I got so bored I ended up chewing off four of my beard hairs.
    • The Street Fighter X Tekken logo (not kidding)
    • Big news time!! ULTIMATE MARVEL VS CAPCOM 3 WILL BE A LAUNCH TITLE FOR THE VITA! Also, it will run in HD and at 60FPS.
    • Some Japanese cats (Toro & Kuro from some Japanese game) will be in Street Fighter X Tekken (possibly as Japan region exclusive)
    • Square-Enix announced two new IPs for the Vita, “Lord of Apocalypse” and “Army Corps of Hell”. (Army Corps of Hell is a launch title. I’m not sure if Lord of Apocalypse is too. But I’ll go ahead and do my genius speculating and say type that it will be a launch title.)
    • Some PS3 news!! FFXIII-2 will be available (in Japan) on December 17th.
    • MOAR PS3 news! FFX WILL BE A HD REMAKE AND AVAILABLE FOR PS3 & VITA! (You are dead inside if that didn’t make you go “eeeeeek ^_^”)
    • I laughed at a “PS2” typo and then was instantly floored when I heard that the Metal Gear HD Collection will be available for the PS3 & Vita! Oh and there was something about “transfar” for Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker on PSP and PS3.
    • Did I forget to mention the ZOE HD Edition for PS3?? I FUCKING SAID, ZOE HD EDITION FOR PS3!!!!
    • Masami Yamamoto talked about Everybody’s Golf 6 and its “Daily National Competition”. Oh, and there was something about “Friend network” I’m going to speculate and say that could possibly mean that we’ll be able to sync our Vita games to sites like Twitter and Facebook. (Well, in game accomplishments anyway)
    • The Vita will have over 25 titles available for launch and there are over 100 titles in development for it as we speak/type.
    • I have no idea what in the hell “NicoNicoDouga” is, but I noticed dancing anime girls and scrolling text, yup.. it was made in Japan alright.
    • Lastly, the Vita will have accessories available (I presume on launch) . I’m going to speculate on some of the things I saw. (Note: I could be wrong on these so excuse me for not knowing the Japanese language). Charger cable (duh), carrying case (possibly), USB Cable, HDMi out (that one I’m completely guessing on). And that’s it.

Oh, wait.. that’s actually NOT it.. I feel like I’m leaving one major announcement out.. hmm.. oh yeah. The Vita will be available on DECEMBER 17th of this year! (in Japan)

Well, there you have it, the best damn TGS recap ANYWHERE! It’s okay.. you’re welcome.

As per the usual, thank you for reading. Don’t forget to Like us on Facebook and stalk us on Twitter. (Note: I’ve since changed my Twitter “@” to @shawnmave, we hope to have my link updated as soon as possible.)

Once again, thank you very much for reading. Now go back to saving the world or something. ONE LAST THING, don’t forget that I beat all of the sites to the Twitter updates. 😀 (Although I’m sure they’ve beaten me to the recap)

“Motion Control is in an 8-bit era” Also, A Nice Surprise

Gesture devices will eventually grow from their “many limitations” says Shuhei Yoshida

I’ve often been quoted saying things like “motion controls have the potential to be the perfect controller” and “I thought you said it was fifty dollars”.  Fortunately for me; Shuhei Yoshida kind of believes with me on my first quote.

Sony Worldwide Studios boss Shuhei Yoshida has likened the current standard of motion controllers to a generation of games consoles that were built in the eighties. Don’t give me that judgmental look like you just caught me masturbating to a video of your sister eating a roast beef sandwich. Here’s a quote from Shuhei himself to make you affix your face from the judgmental look you keep staring at me with.

“As far as I’m concerned, the motion control of today is like the 8-bit phase of video games,”

Speaking last week during a Gamescom panel discussion on the future of video games, Yoshida stated that modern motion control is currently held beck by “many limitations”. Mick Hocking, a senior director at Sony Worldwide Studios, echoed Yoshida’s statement.

“I think we’ve just only started exploring the possibilities of motion control,”.

“Move has given us the first accurate device use for motion control,”.

“I’m also interested in the possibilities of virtual reality and tracking every part of my body. There are loads of things we can do with motion control. Maybe we’ll create objects holographicly and interact with them via motion controllers,”.

All three major console manufacturers feature motion control nowadays. Nintendo even placed motion controls at the center of its “Wii” console. Whereas Microsoft and Sony just offer it as a side option. While there’s no doubt that these gesture devices were the biggest reasons for all of the fitness and dancing games releases and their massive success. That technology is slowly starting to creep its way into other genres.

Gareth Edmondson, studio manger at Ubisoft Reflections, believes the primitive nature of the technology is the reason for this. QUOTE TIME!!

“Well Ubisoft Reflections is a core gamer racing game studio, so applying motion control to that is actually quite hard,”.

“We’ve seen, like with the new Tom Clancy game, a really interesting motion-controlled gun customization shop,”.

“There’s a place for it, but it’s hard to make it for driving games. Maybe there is a way, but we haven’t found one yet.”

What do all of you think about the current state and future potential of and for motion controls? Feel free to tell us in our comments section. Actually, you know what.. I fell bad about just posting a trailer for another fitness game.. so to make it up to you all.. HERE’S THE ENTIRE SONY GAMESCOM PRESS CONFERENCE!!

Sega Gives a Release Date for Binary Domain

Sega has finally confirmed that Binary Domain will be released in February, 2012 for the PlayStation3 and Xbox360.

Binary Domain is being designed by Yakuza creator Toshihiro Nagoshi. Binary Domain takes place in a futuristic Tokyo that is largely populated by robots and was announced December, 2010. Now here’s a random quote from Toshihiro for no apparent reason other than I’ve been wanting to slap this somewhere other than on a meter reader’s throat.

“Usually games have a simple theme, but if we aim to maximise the appeal of a game as interactive entertainment, we need to develop more sophisticated themes that tie into every aspect of the game,” said Nagoshi.

“I have made many attempts to link a game heavy in drama to a highly enjoyable and immersive gameplay experience, and with Binary Domain every setting and mechanic in the game is designed to revolve around ‘Life’.”

I’m just going to go ahead and guess that Binary Domain‘s story will mainly focus on what it really means to be human.. and blah dee frikkin blah *views video* Oh goodie I was right, except now we get to tackle a government and its conspiracy!! To be fair that really is a good subject, but I just get the sinking feeling that it’s going to play out like a cross between iRobot and Mass Effect.. with all of the good parts of Mass Effect taken out and replaced with anchovy sandwiches. And the bread for the sandwich won’t be bread, but instead you’ll have two pieces of drywall. But I only think that because Sega hasn’t really done much to regain my trust.

Binary Domain will be released on February 14th in the US and February 17th in Europe.

    PlayStation 3 Owners Aren’t Pre-Ordering Modern Warfare 3

MSXboxWorld has revealed that PlayStation 3 owners aren’t exactly flocking to the release of Modern Warfare 3 as much as Xbox360 owners.

One reason for this is the fact that Sony doesn’t seem to be “starving” its owners for 1st party content. I’ve said time and time again that many gamers are much savvier and waiting to see what deals could be had on launch day. There are a lot of other (and more promising) games coming out within the next few months other than Modern Warfare 3.

And let’s not forget the small matter of Battlefield 3 releasing before MW3, which could’ve halted the “OMG I MUST GIT MODERN WHARRFUR3 NAO!” momentum that other Fish games have gotten in the past. Even the new trailer of the Spec Ops/Survival mode trailer hasn’t gotten gamers off of their savvy/indecisive asses to pre-order Modern Warfare 3 (and in my opinion, despite how I like making fun of this series and the hate it gets, that Spec Ops/Survival mode looks damn good. Even if it basically “horde” mode, but with Fish perks.) And no, I will not stop calling this series “Fish”.

Note: Am I the only one that thinks MW3’s music/”brrrnnggh” noise sounds an awful lot like Bad Company 3’s?

Although I really don’t give a Duke Nukem flying turd about which platform has the most pre-orders of a certain game. It doesn’t change the fact that gamers of every platform will have their own views on how much a game is worth to them. And no amount of  pre-order stats will make gamers feel any inclination on rushing to the store and making a five dollar promise that they will buy your game on release day or a couple days after that day. Your game’s content will do that, not useless stats.

It matters not which platform you’re on, the months leading up to Christmas promises to be a great time for you (excluding PSP and 3DS, they have no “gaemz”. The purposeful misspelling of games is kind of a inside joke here at 8BC, just deal with it and accept it softly.. like a strange rapist approaching your naughty parts, but the rapist is hot and has an aroma of Hot Pockets and Cheetos.)  The game doesn’t even come out until November so there is plenty of time for anyone to place a pre-order or not.

Have you placed your preorder for MW3 or any game coming out between now and Christmas or early 2012 yet? Let us know here in the comments section.

I myself am not getting MW3 as I feel like every COD game I’ve played was the same. As for a review, I’ll get one of my contributors to do it as the game does nothing for me.

I’ll get Battlefield 3 on day-one though. Also, I do agree that Xbox 360 owners are really starving for first-party games this winter. They get Gears of War 3 and thats it.

PS3 owners get Resistance 3, Uncharted 3, Ratchet and Clank: All 4 One, and a whole lot more.

So while 360 owners are enjoying their MW3, PS3 owners get to enjoy MW3 with other triple-A titles exclusive to their platform.

Oh how far the 360 exclusivity has fallen.

That, I feel, is kind of a double-edged sword. On one edge, ps3 players get a hell of a lot more variety; that simply can not be denied. However, Microsoft execs use the comparison in sales data for 3rd party games to 3rd party developers to further reenforce their bid for exclusive or time-exclusive content/DLC.

Which, as we all know; can be particularly annoying for some impatient gamers. (Pointing at all of you players that bought the 360 SOLELY for not wanting to wait for some maps.)

    • janhutchings 12:53 am on August 19, 2011 Permalink | Reply

I’d have to agree with that. But really those maps altogether cost more than the actual game. People could buy two triple-a games for that amount.

$15 for 5 maps never really sat well with me, and never will.

But then again, most casual COD players don’t mind paying those exorbitant amounts because they don’t even know they’re being gyped.

N-Control’s “Avenger” PS3 Accessory Promises to Revolutionize Gameplay

Really? That looks like a flustercuk. >_>

N-Control is releasing its new accessory for the PlayStation 3 controller, this November. N-Control guarantees to provide users with “the ultimate gaming advantage.” N-Control claims its “Avenger” accessory to be “the most sophisticated secret weapon in the gaming industry,”. I swear, just about every other accessory maker and their dog claims this whenever they release an accessory too. Maybe I should place one of my turds in the freezer overnight and call it “the joystick that literally conforms to the way you hold it”. “The ShitStick, available now for 29.99 at where ever over-priced accessories can be found.”

Oh Demotivational, where would we be without you?

All cynicism and witty dialogue aside; the Avenger is an external adapter that houses the PlayStation 3 controller to enhance game play. The accessory tightly grips the controller’s exterior surface, providing an immersive gaming experience through an intuitive user-interface. Or so N-Control claims.  “It enhances the gamer’s manual dexterity and situational awareness by improving accuracy and reaction time,” says David Kotkin, lead designer of The N-Control Avenger. “This sophisticated accessory is specially engineered for those who want to push their gaming abilities to new heights.” The Avenger supposedly allows for rapid, fluid movements between individual buttons and analogue sticks (because I’ve always complained that my thumbs were just too fucking slow), allowing gamers to access nine functions simultaneously (who the hell needs nine functions at once?). The adapter comes equipped with a stabilizer tripod, high-precision tension straps, hair-triggers, and sensitivity adjusters, which can be fine-tuned like the price of a indecisive crack whore.

The Avenger’s release date coincides with the launch of Modern Warfare 3. The Avenger will only be available in a limited edition of 5000 Units Worldwide; gamers had better hurry if they wish to take advantage of this offer The PS3 Avenger can be ordered online from the N-Control website for $48.99.
